FAQ

Why work with an IBCLC?

An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant is the highest level of certification in lactation care and feeding support. Working with an IBCLC ensures you receive evidence-based, personalized support for your feeding journey.

Any time you are experiencing pain, latch issues, milk supply concerns, or feeding challenges.

When should I see a lactation consultant?

We’ll talk through your concerns, observe a feeding (if applicable), and create a personalized plan so you can feel more confident moving forward.

What happens during a lactation consultation?

You can schedule anytime - during pregnancy or after baby arrives. Many families find prenatal support helps them feel more prepared and confident from the start.

When should I schedule a lactation consultation?

How long are visits?

Most visits are typically 45-90 minutes, allowing enough time to fully assess feeding and answer your questions without feeling rushed.

That’s okay. Many families reach out just to ask questions or get reassurance. You don’t have to wait until something feels overwhelming.

What if I’m not sure I need help yet?

Many families try to figure things out on their own first- but having the right support early can make feeding easier, more comfortable, and less stressful.

Do I really need a lactation consultant?
